Asbury Coward papers, 1898-1899.

In April 1898 more than forty cadets protested actions of a cadet officer and left The Citadel. Parents, friends, and alumni wrote numerous letters. One letter was written by the father of J.S. Cantey. Information on the Board of Visitors' actions on dismissal and reentering of cadets is located in correspondence of 1898 and spring of 1899.
